Is there a Heap of unpicked garbage outside your home? You can call the toll free number to report this. After introducing 46 GPS enables garbage vans in November last year , Panvel city Municipal Corporation has come up with toll free number to ensure effective garbage collection in node.
Residents can now dial toll free number 1800-227-201 to report about uncollected garbage. In October 2018 , PCMC took over garbage collection responsibility from Cidco. The civic body has set up a LED screen at PCMC headquarters to get real time information about movement of garbage vans.
Heaps of garbage along roads was a common sight at Kalamboli and some areas in Kharghar . Residents said the situation has improved. The civic body is also spreading awareness on dry and wet waste segregation and urging residents to have zero wastage.
The PCMC is also working on production of electricity from garbage through bio-gas projectsp. The civic body will spend Rs 8 crore to set up bio gas plants at five locations in the city. The 10 metric tonne capacity projects will be set up in Kharghar,Kalamboli, Kamothe, Taloja and Panvel rural areas.
It will enable disposal of 200 metric tonnes of the 470 metric tonne wet garbage generated in PCMC jurisdiction.
