The new Nerul-Belapur-Uran route started by central railways has cut into the revenue earnings of NMMT by around 45% . The new fourth corridor on the Uran phase 1 route was inaugurated by the CM and other dignitaries on November 11 last year .
Apart from the less time taken to commute to Nerul and Belapur by commuters from Kharkopar and Bamandongri on the new Nerul-Belapur-Uran route , the ticket fare and monthly pass is a big takeaway for the commuters.
Kharkopar commuters-the station that connects the new Ulwe node on the Uran corridor — pay just Rs 390 for first class monthly pass for train against the rs 1000 that they would pay by bus.
Over one lakh commuters availed monthly pass in February from Kharkopar , while over two lakh from Bamandongri, Railway commuters are spoilt for choice. Train ticket fares Rs 5 is a minimum three times less , while the first class monthly pass is a big saving for commuters from both the stations on the new corridor . Bamndongri which is currently located in Ulwe node has more commuters.
