Two trainswith three coaches each, meant for Navi Mumbai Metro , have reached at Pendhar Metro terminal at Taloja on Saturday.
This will be followed by assembling of parts at depot .
Testing will be conducted on trains in the next four to five days at the terminal. Three more metro trains are expected to arrive in May and the remaining three in August, taking the tally to eight trains which will run on the 11.1 km stretch of Metro Line 1 between Belapur and Pendhar.
This is the first lot of Metro coaches designed in China which had landed at Mumbai port last week and entered the Taloja Depot raising hopes for residents to take a ride soon. The test drive on tracks is likely to take place by September October as 70% station work has already been completed.
Each train will be made up of three coaches which includes two driving motor car one in front and the other on the rear end , while the middle coach will be the trailer car. A total of eight trains will be put to service between Pendhar and Belapur.
After failing to meet the deadlines several times since the project was kicked off in 2011 with much fanfare , Cidco has set a fresh timeline in 2020 almost 10 years into the project.
